SOS Music releases new singles from Violet and LCY

Taken from forthcoming SOS Music Vol. 1 featuring rRoxymore, Umfang, Minimal Violence, Nene H, and more

The second single from SOS Music’s debut release ‘SOS MUSIC Vol. 1’ is a high energy double A side from London-based, multi-genre producer LCY (FKA L U C Y) and the eclectic, illustrious Lisbon artist Violet.

Launching her new name earlier this year, LCY’s single ‘Milan’, which ‘was made at the beginning of the pandemic and was my way of venting feelings of the ever-growing scaremongering of the virus and how it was affecting society.’ The new alias reflects a shift in the producer’s sonics and visuals that will see her focus on the darker, more percussive side of electronic music. In 2019 she solidified her place as a key proponent of UK underground music and culture with the launch of her label SZNNS7N releasing artists including Yazzus, Lijah, Tailor Jae, Traces, MUHLA, Raheim, Kyri Michael & zonae.

Naive label boss, Radio Quantica co-founder and resident at Mina (arguably one of the best queer raves in Europe), Violet has previously released on One Eyed Jacks and Love On The Rocks. Her track for SOS, ‘Search and Find’, is about self-exploration and meditative states, with the bass doubling as a mantra-like drone, while the oddness of the cut-up vocals is her ode to the validity of hacking our bodies and essentially being cyborgs.

As part of their collaboration with Mixcloud, SOS Music will be interviewing LCY on Instagram live to talk all things production at 1PM PST/ 9PM GMT tonight. Tune in on Mixcloud’s Instagram channel.

Founded by LA duo Sisters Of Sound (Maddy Maia & Tottie) in conjunction with legendary Berlin-based !K7 and iconic Los Angeles radio station DUBLAB, the label’s debut release, ‘SOS MUSIC Vol. 1’ showcases dance music from some of the best producers working at the moment including rRoxymore, Nightwave, Lara Sarkissian, Umfang, LCY & Minimal Violence.

The full compilation will be released 23rd October on digital and LP, with proceeds being donated to three charities - Transgender Law Centre, Downtown Women’s Shelter & Women’s Refugee Commission. All tracks will also be available in Dolby Atmos - the first leftfield electronic release of it’s kind to be available in the format and has already garnered support from Mixmag, DJ Mag, RA, The Vinyl Factory, BBC 6 Music, Spotify, and more.
