For the video, Sao Paulo visual artist Gabriel Massan and graphic designer Ikaro Cavalcante build an apocalyptic world featuring exclusive creatures and otherworldly narrative. The project was created entirely over long distance with Gabriel creating the masks and beings whilst Ikaro designed the setting.
The avatars in the video are inspired by Gabriel’s 3D drag workshops which he has been hosting for Queer BiPOC during lockdown. Gabriel has also worked with the likes of NTS, Lollapalooza and Glamour Brasil.
‘Goloso Amor’ is taken from The 83rd’s recent ‘83 Editz’ club pack album which saw the New York producer mash-up some of the recent biggest hits. Celebrating Black underground music, the album spans across Balie funk, deconstructed hip hop, Jersey and Baltimore club and is met with the intensity of hardcore techno, gabber, and industrial electronic music.
