One of the UK’s most potent club brands bring a line-up which marries both global and local artists to Papaya Playa Project this January
The Hydra announce their inaugural party in Mexico marking a new international chapter in their six-year tenure. A cultural exchange between one of the world’s most exciting and burgeoning scenes and the European artists at the top of their game (check Fatima Yamaha, Move D, Antal and Dolan Bergin); not only will this be the first Hydra event of the year on Saturday 13th January, but it will also be a landmark one for the British curators of electronic music.
Known for their ability to transform unique locations (be it from dilapidated warehouses or a decommissioned WWII naval ship to the present day, a Mexican beachside); their move to Mexico captures the nomadic spirit they’ve held since day one. The team are set to use their innovative approach to production to reimagine the eco-haven of the Papaya Playa Project. Drawn in by the venue’s sustainability initiative, a project which preserves and inspires the region’s natural habitats, there was nowhere more fitting for such an exchange.
The Hydra’s line-ups form the cornerstone of every party (from the late night intimate sessions to the 5000-strong crowds), and this date is no exception. Sharing the experience with headliners Fatima Yamaha (who’ll play live) and Antal, it’ll also be their first time in the country too. The Hydra also welcome local names Leo Leal and Moses. Collaboration with the country’s artists was an essential requisite for this event, a chance to truly demonstrate The Hydra’s respect for Mexico’s thriving local scene.
A twelve-hour celebration and appreciation of the global electronic scene, The Hydra now put themselves on an international platform with yet more dates outside of their native London in the pipeline.
